The award of the new contracts formally launches NGRC’s Concept Study 5 line of effort dedicated to medium lift rotary capabilities.
NGRC requirements mainly cover a future medium lift helicopter that costs no more than €35 million ($38.2 million) per aircraft and provisionally planned to enter service between 2035 and 2040.
France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom will work on the concept together, while European industry will work to keep their American competitors out.
